Kim and I welcomed Gary Gil, the driving force behind
Podclass.com, a website where everybody can teach AND learn online. Gary, a self defined serial entrepreneur, has been involved in consumer education for over the past nine years. He has been involved in creating over 250 consumer websites with thousands of pages of educational content and spanning 40 different markets including health, consumer electronics, financial services, sports, skin care and dozens of others. With a vision toward creating the world’s online marketplace for teaching and learning, Gary formed Podclass.com in 2006. Needless to say, Kim and I had plenty of questions for him:
- What IS Podclass?
- Can anyone use Podclass to teach classes, or do they need to be teachers?
- Do we need special technical skills to create an online course on Podclass?
- How does Podclass differ from a website like You Tube, which also offers teaching videos along with other content?
- What format do I need to use to create a class to post on Podclass? Audio? Video? Powerpoint?
- What types of topics can I teach using Podclass?
- How can I find content for creating a Podclass course?
- How much work is involved in teaching an online course through Podclass?
- What are some advantages of offering an online course as opposed to a live workshop?
Gary was so full of information and provided such great answers to our questions that we invited him back to share MORE! Yep, Part 2 is on the way!
As always, our intro/exit music is provided by IODA Promonet, the Independent Online Distribution Alliance.

OK, you know that I didn’t have the time to explore ALL of the features in each of the browsers I used during my test phase but I can’t believe I missed this one in
Opera.
One of the things I really like about Firefox is that I can use plug-ins to view pages in Internet Explorer with either IEView or IETab. I can even use FirefoxView to flip back to Firefox from IE. With K-Meleon, I can at least open a page in IE. OK, that’s great…but what if I’m using K-Meleon and want to view a page in Firefox? What if I’m using Firefox and want to view the page in Safari? I just discovered that I can view a page with any browser I have installed on my PC from within Opera! Is that cool or what? All I have to do is right-click on the page I’m viewing in Opera and choose ‘Open With’ to get a list of ALL THE BROWSERS INSTALLED ON MY PC! That’s reason enough for me to start using Opera as my default browser. Hmmmmm…..I love ya, K-Meleon but I think I’m gonna have to check out Opera for awhile and see what other cool features I missed during testing!

If you listened to Part I (and we hope you did) you’ll know that
e-VotingBooth.com is your online tool for voting on ANY of the over 10,300 congressional bills/resolutions listed on thomas.gov since the 110th Congress in January 2007. In Part II, Kim and I continued to ask Steve about how he thought e-VotingBooth.com was going to change the way people participate in the democratic process in America…and on down the line in other countries.

If you haven’t started using Twitter yet then you are missing out on a great way to network online. I decided to try out Twitter a couple of month ago but I didn’t do much with it until with the last week. Admittance to being addicted is a mild way to explain how much I love Twitter. Let me share a few details about Twitter, keep in mind that when I say Tweet it means that you have just sent a message via Twitter. A person who uses Twitter is a Tweeter. The entire network or universe of Twitter is called Twitterville. Meeting people offline is called a TweetUp.
OK, enough about my love of Twitter and onto the 3rd-party applications (apps) that you can get that will work well with Twitter. Below is a short list but look for more details about the entire list that will be released soon.
- Twhirl: offline program that will allow you to send tweets from your desktop
- TweetLater: online website that will all you to automatically except followers and to schedule your tweet for future release
- TweetBurner: online website that will allow you to track the activity of links that you post to Twitter.
- Twitterfeed: online website that will send RSS feeds to your Twitter account.
Watch for more details about more Twitter 3rd-party apps that I will test and give my feedback regarding them. If you know of a 3rd-party application that I need to test, please feel free to leave a comment and share about it here.
