Episode 66: An Interview with Warren Whitlock (Part 1) [26:53m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | DownloadWarren is the co-author of The Twitter Handbook with Coach Deb. The Twitter Handbook is their attempt to explain Twitter, who uses and and what they use it for. If you’re unfamiliar with Twitter, you’ll find more information about it in The Twitter Handbook.
Some of the topics you’ll find at:
- What Twitter is all about
- Why people tweet
- FAQ’s about Twitter & the Twitterverse Glossary
- How best to communicate with people on Twitter
- How to find and reply to those @ messages sent directly to you
- How people are making money by using Twitter
- Where to download the most popular resources to use with Twitter
- The dangers and the future of Twitter and the Twitterverse
Kim and I had several questions for Warren and he had plenty of answers!
- What IS Twitter?
- Why would I want to use it?
- Can I search Twitter for specific Tweets (messages) without having to read ALL of them?
- How did Warren get started with Twitter
- How does he have time to tweet?
Needless to say, Warren promotes Twitter as a wonderful networking tool and believes that the time he spends on Twitter saves him time he’s previously spent at face-to-face networking events where he may have collected a few business cards but may have completely missed meeting the people who can really add to his network. He’s also a great believer in the Rule of Reciprocity. “What” you may be asking, “is the Rule of Reciprocity?” Very simply, it’s the obligation to give back. For more information on this and other methods of persuasion, Warren recommends reading material by Dr. Robert Cialdini, PhD, president of Influence at Work.
When we come back for Part 2, Warren shares more about The Twitter Handbook and more of his experiences with online networking.
