Views from the Coop does our part to help support independent artists with IODA Promonet!
October 17, 2007
I recently started co-hosting a podcast with my friend and colleague, Dr. Kathy King, of Transformation Education LLC. We do a bi-monthly show on Blog Talk Radio called, appropriately, Transformation Ed!
When we did our first show, Kathy introduced me to IODA Promonet, an independent online music distribution alliance. That’s where she got her “podsafe” intro music. As most of you know, I’ve spent countless hours scouring the ‘net for ‘chicken songs’ and have used various chicken themed intros and exits since Views from the Coop was first hatched as a podcast. I have to ashamedly admit that I didn’t check to see if the tunes I was finding could be used by anybody online for anything. I guess I figured that since they were there and they were free that they were fair game. I’m not saying I’m going to stop using them, but I am going to make an effort to find out if I have the right to do so before I use another one.
Beginning with the next episode of Views from the Coop, we will begin using music from IODA Promonet. I became a member and immediately did a search for “chicken songs” and you’ll be pleasantly surprised (I sure was) at how many independent artists out there have actually recorded them. I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage all of you bloggers and podcasters out there to visit http://promonet.iodalliance.com and do your part to support independent artists AND get some great podsafe music to use on your blog or in your podcast.
