CES 2007: Day Three
January 10, 2007
Thanks to my mom and business partner, Gwen, and her buddy, Dottye, for keeping Lee company on-the-air this morning. I just hope the radio station will let me come back next week after hearing all the great stuff those two had to share. I did call in just to say hello and direct everyone to the blog for an update on what I’ve been doing. Speaking of an update…
We went to the Sands/Venetian exhibits yesterday. There was a lot of audio stuff there. All I can tell you about it is that it’s supposed to be home audio but unless you can afford a home that costs in the millions, you probably wouldn’t want to spend the money to outfit it with the audio systems I saw. Rick was more into the audio thing than I was, but it was really fun looking at it and listening. Actually, there was one product that was really interesting. I don’t know what it was called but it fits onto your turntable and makes your vinyl sound like CD. Of course, I’m sure it would help if you had the $100,000 sound system to enhance the experience.
I did talk to Dr. Matthew Dunn of MusicIP. MusicIP is a search engine that catalogs your music for you acoustically. That means that if you’re in the mood for something mellow, just play one of your mellow tunes and MusicIP finds all the other tunes that match your mood and puts them into a playlist. There’s a free player and a premium player so you can give the basic player a try and if you like it, you can upgrade to the premium player and get even more features for finding just the right tune without scrolling for half an hour! You can check out MusicIP on the web for a comparison of the features between the basic and the premium version of the play. Dr. Dunn himself was at the show with a broken arm and was in great humor for someone that was in a cast. He’s on his way to France but promised he’d drop me a note when he got back and pay us a visit online to tell you more about how MusicIP works.
Being a musician, Rick has used various brands of microphones and one of the brands he’s used and liked is Samson. Now that podcasting has entered the mainstream, Samson has introduced a Podcasting Recording Pack that has everything in it for podcasters. You can’t find it on the website yet, but you can see the microphone that’s in the kit on the Samson website.
Well, we’re on our way to see Gene Simmons at the Coby Electronics booth and think we just heard Billy Gibbons next door at the Gibson booth so I gotta run! More later….much more!!!
UPDATE: Well, we waited at the Coby booth for 2 hours or longer and Gene never showed. Rats! Being first generation KISS fans, we were anxious to get our pictures made with The Demon.
We’re getting ready to get outta here and go take some pictures on the strip. I’ll have more to tell you tomorrow when I get back to Missouri. If you haven’t done it yet, check out the CES website and see for yourself what’s been going on. Tomorrow’s post will include pictures, so don’t miss it!
