I have 6 browsers on my PC and yes, I really do have a reason for having so many….to test websites that I design to see how they look in different browsers. This morning, I decided to start the new year off (well, actually, 2008 starts tomorrow but since this is Monday, I decided to go ahead and get a jump on it) by choosing a specific browser and using it exclusively for a week. I’ve used various browsers before, but never long enough to really see what I like or don’t like about them. Like I said, I like to test the websites I design in different browsers but haven’t really used any of them for any length of time. I have to admit, I like my Firefox and that’s pretty much what I’ve been using exclusively for a couple of years now. I used to use Opera as my default browser (around about version 5) but when I tried Firefox, I abandoned it.OK, so which browser am I starting with? Safari for Windows. I’ve been making notes about the features I like and don’t like so I can report back to you at the end of the week. I have to admit, it’s been tough not going back to Firefox but I’m hanging in there! Stay tuned for my Safari report at the end of this week! BTW: Kim and I would love to have you join us when we talk with George Smyth of theÂ
One Minute How-To podcast. George has been a guest on VFTC before and it’s time to talk to him again. He also has a really cool blog calledÂ
Eclectic Mix that explores tunes from new (and not so new), independent music artists. I’m interested in hearing what George has planned for 2008 and maybe even get some tech predictions from him. Anyway, you can join us Thursday at 6pm CST onÂ
Blog Talk Radio if you’d like to join the discussion live. Aw, come on…..it’ll be FUN!Â

There’s one feature you may not notice on your own in Safari. When you have a form you’re filling in that has a box for freeform text, you can actually drag the bottom right hand corner of that box to make it wider and longer! It’s very odd that they can do this, but it works great!

I’ll make a note of that feature, Allison, and give it a try. I’ll also see if any of the other broswers I’ll be testing has the same or a similar feature! Thanks for the heads-up!
